OK – now I am officially annoyed at the GOP

Nice that Newt Gingrich took the time to telephone to tell us that if we are Patriots, believe in Family Values, and are Moral, we need to vote Republican.  He worked out well when he had his chance the last time people wanted to “throw the bums out”.  Margaret really like that message.  Ugh.  Is enough to make big spending incumbent Democrats look like the best option.

Maybe this guy at Stewart / Colbert rally had it right?  I’ll just take a Pony and ride back to Toronto.

I am so excited to vote Tuesday

first am pretty sure that regardless who gets elected can no one will get anything done in DC because they’ll be worrying first and foremost about which party is “winning” and their next election.   I’m pretty sure its even worse in Harrisburg – PA can probably give CA a run for their money for state govt most inept and irretrievably broken.

then I am pretty sure that every politician will say whatever they think will get them elected versus what they actually believe in – what would you like me to be.

then i don’t actually even know what they believe in because they are spending record amounts of money trashing their oponents versus saying anything constructive.

then as a registered republican i’d like to vote for someone who is fiscally conservative but the repubican’s are robocalling telling me that they are the moral vote for an america that I don’t want anything to do with.

then i get depressed because we get what we deserve, and a society that is more interested in the hooker charlie sheen is sleeping with in the room next door to his ex wife and daughters than where our country is going………….

then i am ranting this while I sit on the porch drinking wine as all sorts of cute trick or treaters come up on the porch and pick candy, when I could be in the Congo or Chechnya or…………

if i was a little more sure we weren’t headed in that direction

Hello Medicine and Devices, Energy, Science, Materials and a better education.

Better find a career in an industry in which NA can still innovate and compete.  The United States has lost approximately 42,400 factories since 2001, and a total of about 5.5 million manufacturing jobs since October 2000.  In America today, consumption accounts for 70 percent of GDP. Of this 70 percent, over half is spent on services. We can argue about the long term economic value – never mind living wages – of these service jobs, but how many services do you think those 5.5M who lost their mfg jobs can afford right now?

Happy Birthday to me

This year i got a 25 yr Wedding Anniversary celebration and these happy smiling faces.  Not to sound ungrateful, but would have been nice if God had also given me a better score than 98 on the Old White Course.

It’s official – Lally is the best daughter

How nice is it to wake up for the annual take your daughter to university day
to find the halls empty and the car all packed? No carry and fetch, no
screaming, no drama.

Being able to still see out the back window and 120 mi to Carlyisle vs 300 to
Bethlehem is added bonus.

Just saying Megan.

Innovation gets rewarded

Assuming Goldman’s chart is right ( I thought Apple didn’t break out their phones separately?) in basically 3 years Apple will have 2X the profit of the other major mobile phone mfg combined, while only selling 3% of the unit volume.

Kind of difficult to legislate and regulate your way to that kind of economic growth,and/or, this is what happens when gov’t is busy trying to prop up all the other industries in which the US are no longer competitive. Wait, this mobile phone thing is really growing, lets tax that!

Happy Birthday Margaret

Just another fifty something year 7/7/2010, not as memorable as 7/7/2007 for a couple of reasons.  Girls got her tickets for a play.  I shifted present gears and got tickets for Pittsburgh Speaker Series after we listened to David Brooks on the weekend.  Got to keep the mind going same as the body, and don’t got to have more stuff.  Hopefully Margaret invites me to use her other ticket to these things.
