#birthweekend in Brooklyn

Millennials and GenXers have BirthWeek celebrations. I grew up with BirthDay, and with age has become a bit more BirthHour celebration. This year we’ll try BirthWeekend, complete with Itinerary http://poppasbirthday.wordpress.com/about/itinerary/ and coincident with Canadian Thanksgiving.

Excited!

all that landscape work I did seems to have been worthwhile

Got thinking about Vancouver, so looked up the old homestead. I know each of those Photinias, Japanese maples, pieris and blades of grass, etc. personally

Yes apparently you can waste a good deal of your day on social media. Another reason why is good only have a bday once a year.

Oh yeah that. Shouldn’t be too tough to translate those words into American English.

RIP Socksy

A cat who thought he was human, and had more personality than a few humans I have known. Probably not a coincidence that he leaves us on one of, if not currently the most poignant day of loss in the country. Survived by all of us, and St. Andrews Episcopal Church parish.

Iraq in a nutshell

From The New York Times

Iraq’s Last Chance
Iraq has devolved into a combination of Lebanon and Nigeria — a toxic brew of sectarian politics and oil-fueled kleptocracy.

Excellent. Now I don’t need to read the other 682 pages either.

The New York Times: An Idiot’s Guide to Inequality. http://google.com/newsstand/s/CBIwx_7AwBo

And like everyone else I don’t need to actually read and understand Pinketty’s pov on the issue, I can just quote the conclusions. Maybe People magazine or 60 Minutes will do a story on it so I can pretend to get it in a little more detail.
